Staff Reporter : Kolkata, 21st July 2025. ‘Back to School’ is a flagship project ideated by social influencer Asish Basak, Editor-Director of Hello Kolkata (3D News, Events, PR, Publications & Films). Started during “UN-LOCK COVID-19”, this initiative got a great impetus on 17th July during the School Visit by a host of dignitaries at ATHENAEUM INSTITUTION.
This is a Heritage School (130 years old) and associated with the legacy of Bengali immortal geniuses Upendrakishore Roy, Sukumar Roy and Satyjit Ray.
Located at 100A Garpar Road, near Rajabazar Science College, it still houses a primary Printing Set-up, reminiscent of Glory Days of Bengal.
On 17th July, President of ATHENAEUM INSTITUTION, Dr. Asok Ray, who is also the 1st V-P of LIONS CLUB OF KOLKATA MAGNATES, hosted an interaction meet with students, teachers and several dignitaries from various sectors of the society.
The event focus was Healthcare Awareness Seminar, wherein Teo eminent physicians, Dr. Asok Ray and Dr. Romi Ray spoke briefly on Child Health.
It was followed by a Motivational Talk, along with de-stressing interaction with students & teachers. Each of 100 Students of Athenaeum Institution. were presented with Certificate, refreshment and gifts.
Headmaster Subhendu and teachers were felicitated with a book by LCSF and Memento of Appreciation (Saraswati Vandana Samman) from HELLO KOLKATA (3D News, Events & Films).
Distribution of Medical Kit (First Aid Box), essentials and gift items amongst school children & staff, was executed by members of LIONS CLUB OF KOLKATA MAGNATES and ROTARY CLUB OF KASBA.
Advocate Mita Banerjee (Padmasri 2025 Nominee) spoke on the patriotic fervour and advised the students to put Nation above all the ideals of life.
Motivational Speakers who interacted with the students included Rotary Kasba and LIONS MAGNATES Jharna Bhattacharjee, Sangita Das, Dr. Shanoli Ray, Dr. Sangita Jha, Rituparna Sen, Ajit Verma, Saptarshi Biswas, Indrani Sarkar, Gautam Sen, Piyali Ghosh, Reshma Narwani, Oindrila Chatterjee and Indrani Ganguly.
BACK TO SCHOOL is a student-connect socio-cultural welfare initiative organized by LIONS CLUB OF KOLKATA MAGNATES, HELLO KOLKATA (3D News, Events, PR, Publications & Films) and ROTARY CLUB OF KASBA. It was supported by KHOOSI (sanitary napkin of Dr. Sangita Jha), LITTLE HANDS LITTLE HELP (Rituparna Sen), S.P.R.O.U.T. (plants donated by South Point 1998 batch), SWARNYM Foundation and PROLEARNZ (founded by Dr. Shanoli Ray).
Conceptualizer of ‘Back To School’, Asish Basak, author & filmmaker, remarked that this initiative provides a much-awaited break from the daily routine of school students and teachers. The de-stressing and relaxation therapy will help in improving focus of the students and will provide better bonding between teachers and students. The visitors also get a chance to reminisce about their own childhood and school days, helping in a wholesome breather for all, which in turn will lead to holistic development of our society.
