Inauguration of Shree Shree Gaura Nitai Temple at Sreenathpur, Mayapur….

Newstv99 : Mayapur, 18 January, 2026. The newly constructed Shree Shree Gaura Nitai Temple was inaugurated at Sreenathpur in Mayapur, Nadia district, under the initiative of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Association. Following the guidance of Shreela Bhakti Swarup Tirtha Maharaj, a four-day-long series of religious and cultural programmes was organised to mark the occasion. Immersed in devotion and festivity, the temple environment turned into a vibrant centre of spiritual congregation.
In the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, Shree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is revered as Gaura, while His intimate associate and principal companion Nityananda Prabhu is known as Nitai. As Mayapur is the birthplace of Shree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the establishment of a Gaura–Nitai temple in its vicinity is considered especially significant by devotees of the Gaudiya Vaishnava community.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of numerous saints and devotees not only from nearby areas but also from different parts of the state and beyond. Daily worship, nama-sankirtan, and continuous distribution of mahaprasad drew hundreds of devotees each day. In the evenings, religious dramas performed by artists from Vrindavana particularly captivated the audience. From afternoon till late night, devotional songs, kirtans, and theatrical presentations centred around the philosophy and life of Shree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu remained the main attractions.
Three temple servitors—Radharamana Dasa, Rasbihari Dasa, and Vishwaksena Dasa — stated that the founding acharya of the Gaura–Nitai Temple, Shreela Bhakti Swarup Tirtha Maharaj, has been spreading the message of the Lord Shree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu across the world for more than three decades. During this long journey, he observed a gradual decline in people’s faith and trust in God. With the aim of reviving that faith, he decided to establish this temple near the birthplace of Shree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Built over nearly five acres of land, the construction of the temple complex was completed within one and a half years. The ground floor houses a banquet hall, while staircases on both sides lead to the second floor. On the left side stands the photograph of Gurudeva Shreela Bhakti Swarup Tirtha Maharaj. The temple also enshrines the deities of Jagannatha, Balrama and Subhadra, Gaura–Nitai, Nrsimhadeva, Prahlad Maharaj, and Nama Om Vishnupada Paramahamsa 108 Shree Srimad Bhakti Shreerup Bhagavat Goswami Maharaj.
According to the organisers, this newly established temple and its associated religious activities are expected to play a significant role in shaping the spiritual and cultural life of the region in the coming days. Devotees unanimously believe that the inauguration of the Gaura–Nitai Temple marks the beginning of a new chapter on the sacred pilgrimage map of Mayapur.
