The Nerve’s Cry: A Sciatica’s Tale….

Spread the love

DR. DIPALOK BANDYOPADHYAY. Kolkata

From lumber spine to restless toes,

A fiery current fiercely flows.

The sciatic nerve, both thick and grand,

Screams pressure’s wrath across the land.

L4, L5, and S1’s might,

From vertebrae that bear the light.

But age or strain may twist the tale—

A disc slips out, nerves wail and flail.

A herniated cushion’s tear,

Or stenosis crowding there.

Piriformis’s grip too tight,

Or sacrum’s joint lost in the night.

Cold floors, hard falls, a weight misplaced,

Or vitamin B’s erased embrace.

A tumor’s weight, a womb’s new life—

Can spark this electric, burning strife.

Like lightning shocks or smoldering coal,

It sears a path, consumes the soul.

A cough, a sneeze—sharp pain takes flight,

While numbness mocks the will to fight.

Yet hope remains! For nine in ten

Shall rise and walk and live again.

With rest, firm beds, and physio’s art,

And medicines that soothe the heart.

A lumbar belt, wise movement’s creed,

Avoids the jolts of reckless speed.

For 80% reclaim their days,

Though some may face invasive ways.

So heed the nerve’s fierce, warning cry—

Let science mend what pains run high.

From spine to sole, through trial’s gate .
